Your Income is Your Decision.

I spent some time with a group media executives over the last two days. It was a workshop on "Managing Personal Finances".

We shared thoughts on a variety of subjects during the course of those conversations. Politics, Savings, Real Estate, Cars, Accidents and everything else you would expect at such a session. It was brilliant.

One concept that got a lot of attention was the fact that 'we decide our incomes'. We decide what our incomes would be per time. It was quite a controversial and touchy issue, but I was glad that we all agreed at some point, that this was true.

You may not be in total control, every time, of what you earn; but it is your decision to make. You must decide to earn an income, and decide how much that amount would be.

Decide to earn more, if you think you need to earn more. The decision about your income would spur you to seek ways to earn more. It would help you to be creative and look out for options and alternatives to earn more.

A salary isn't the only kind of income. You could consider dividends, commissions, share of profits, rent or even royalties.

Begin to allow yourself think about earning more and actively explore your income possibilities.
